About Mark E Greene

Mark E Greene was raised in the wilds of suburban northern Virginia. During his formative years, Mark served as an indentured tour guide for family members who visited during summer break and wished to see the delights of the nation’s capital. A tour of the FBI building, always a big favorite, ended with a shooting demonstration by an FBI Special Agent. Mark learned early on that a polite request, “may I have the target?” resulted in the Agent handing over the bullet riddled paper which Mark promptly gifted to an amazed and forever grateful family member, while ignoring the jealous stares of less informed tourists.

Mark’s decision to attend the University of Virginia was heavily influenced by Playboy Magazine naming UVA one of the country’s top ten party schools. Plus, decent academics and a willingness to overlook his SAT scores.

Despite a heavy schedule defending UVA’s reputation, Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the McIntire School of Commerce, a course of study chosen primarily because the Com-School had no foreign language requirement. A decision he regrets to this day, especially when he finds himself in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Mexico or most places around the world. Consequently, Mark limits his travel to the US, the UK and certain provinces of Canada.

Upon graduation, Mark moved to New York City and began a career in the advertising industry during the waning days of the three-martini lunch. Despite ten years of diligent effort to resurrect this hallowed tradition, Mark gave up and became an entrepreneur. With a win / loss record equivalent to the batting average of a major league backup outfielder, Mark finally decided to pursue his two life-long passions: writing and the outdoors.

Mark E Greene is an award-winning author with an off-beat sense of humor and a sharp eye for the absurd. He writes high-energy satire with the pace of a thriller, plus a little off-beat romance thrown in for good measure. When Mark is not writing, he and his family pursue all manner of self-propelled outdoor sports which provide content for the podcast hosted by his alter ego; Mark in the Wild.
