Mark’s first camping trip was a three-day ordeal that left him wet, tired, dirty and hungry, but in love with camping and the outdoors.

And over the last several decades, that love has only grown, as he has continued to fuel his passion. Of course, there have been a few close calls and some dicey situations – angry bears, flaming tents, pissed off farmers (long story). But he continues to venture out - hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, the list goes on and on…all a means to an end - time spent in the wild.

His podcast is simply a continuation and a sharing of a journey that began on a cold, rainy night, curled up on a damp air mattress, watching the water slowly rise, the grumbling in his stomach a warning against eating half-cooked chicken.

Welcome to Mark in the Wild.

A podcast for people who live for their time outdoors. Whether you’re an old hand or just getting started.

From hiking and biking to canoeing and kayaking. Snowshoeing, skiing, camping, climbing and more. If it takes you outside, into nature, into the woods, onto the water, its fair game for this podcast. Mark in the Wild is going to interview Makers, Adventurers and Dreamers. Plus, Mark is going to share some of his thoughts and opinions, based on his years in the wild.

So, who are the Makers, Adventurers and Dreamers?

The Makers are the people with an idea so compelling that they feel driven to bring it to life. They sweat and toil and finally take their new product, innovation or service from the drawing board to reality.

The Adventurers are the men and women who are out there. Running the rapids, climbing the walls, hiking the trails. They’re shooting video, writing articles and books, guiding, teaching or simply giving a trip report to their local hiking club.

And finally, there’s the Dreamers. They’re on the front lines, working to protect our outdoor resources. Whether it's collecting signatures for a petition, raising money to protect a fragile piece of the ecosystem or doing something as simple, and vital, as trail maintenance on their day off.

That’s Mark in the Wild.
